We live in a brave new world. Old Republic, one of the largest title insurance underwriters in the country, just completed a two-month trial in New York in which agents provided surveys using drones.
The experiment generated just one complaint, and therefore, effective immediately, all agents may insure surveys where drones were used to perform the ground work.
The survey must be prepared and certified by a human being who is a surveyor licensed by the New York State Department of Education and it must meet certain formatting requirements listed by the underwriter.
