Real Estate Board of New York Banquet 2015

By admin

REBNYAs everyone in real estate knows, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. On January 15, 2015, the who’s who of commercial real estate in New York City gathered for the annual Real Estate Board of New York’s (“REBNY”) 2015 Banquet. This year approximately 3000 guests were in attendance for the $1000/ticket gala at the New York Hilton Hotel.  Each year REBNY honors a number of the top people in the industry for their service, dedication and commitment to the New York Real Estate Community. Some of this year’s honorees included outgoing REBNY Chairman Steven Spinola, Vornado Realty Trust’s Glenn J. Weiss, Rudin Management Inc.’s William C. Rudin,  Eastern Consolidated’s Peter Hauspurg, Brookfield Property Group’s Daniel M. Kindbergh and Fox Residential Group, Inc.’s Barbara Fox.

The honorees accepted their acknowledgements surrounded by industry titans such as Mary Ann Tighe, Jerry Speyer, Burt Resnick, Jonathan Mechanic and Dan Tishman.

The crowd spent most of the night discussing real estate deals, trends, properties and predictions for 2015. Another hot topic was politics and there was no shortage on politicians in the crowd. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, NYS State Senator Chuck Schumer, City Planning Chairman Carl Weisbrod, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen, Public Advocate Tish James, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer and NYC Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito mixed and mingled throughout the night with the high-powered real estate crowd.

It was a fabulous evening and opportunity to network for World Wide Land Transfer’s attendees. As a New York Title Insurance Agency working with real estate developers and attorneys, it allowed our attendees to make many new real estate connections and rekindle old relationships. Spinola who served as the REBNY Chairman for  almost 30 years said in his final speech as Chairman that real estate is the “engine that powers the Big Apple”. “We love Wall Street, but New York is a real estate town”. Well said and well done Mr. Spinola, now let’s hope 2015 is another stellar year for New York real estate.
